Water Gardens The Beauty Within

Water Gardens Give Beauty

Water gardens

Water gardens

Water plants are absolutely essential to a water garden. They keep algae from growing. They provide shade and cover for your fish. They also add beauty when the water lilies bloom.  There’s nothing like seeing a big beautiful bloom on top of water. Plus your frogs will be basking in the sun on top of the lily leaves. It’s such a sight to see but look quick cause when they see you they will go right back in the water garden. Plus many fish attach their eggs to the bottom of the lily leaves making like a little nursery for your baby fish. Just don’t expect to see the baby fish in your water garden for at least a year or two. Because they will be hiding in the rocks until they get big enough that they will not be eaten. Because many fish will eat their young. Once they get to a certain size the adults will leave them alone. Water gardens in my yard have many different meanings. There are water gardens for beauty and water gardens for work. There are water gardens for storage and some are for breeding fish. One for winter storage(in the greenhouse). And even water gardens that really breed the frogs, although they all do this. Water gardens also draw many animals. Snails, frogs, raccoon, and skunk. You may even have the great blue heron visit your water gardens. He is an unwelcome visitor to your water gardens though. He will eat your fish.

Eco Friendly

When you have a water garden you have a complete ecosystem. You should do your part to give the fish and animals all they need. To create a great home for them to grow and thrive. When you make it easy for them they will make it easy on you.  When the winter comes be sure to not let your pond freeze over solid. Keep a hole in the ice for the harmful gases to escape letting fresh oxygen get into the water. This can be done by running a bubbler or a pump to keep the water circulating. Moving water will not freeze solid and keep your pond and fish healthy. You should also try to remove as much debris as possible to keep the harmful gases at a minimum. Fish that cannot breathe good oxygenated water will die shortly there after. Make your appointment today and shop from our extensive list of water plants, bamboo and perennials. (859)635-0922 Jeff. Bamboo Plants

Hi My Name is Jeff Gabelman. I am the owner of Gabelmans Gardens. With the coming of spring it’s time to get started and this year is no exception. We are changing our store hours  to make it more convenient for our new and repeat customers. We appreciate your business and are doing all we can to make the necessary arrangements to serve you better. This year Gabelmans Gardens  will be starting to ship our plants across the country. Gabelmans Gardens wants to be able to serve all customers and not just local business. We will always offer the same great service and education for the plants we sell and grow. Gabelmans Gardens  guarantee is that I will not sell any plants that I haven’t grown for at least 3-5 years already. By doing this I can offer you my best methods for my growing success.

Great Time To Visit Gabelmans Gardens

At Gabelmans Gardens it’s bamboo shooting season right now and the new shoots have broken ground. They will soon be 30 ft tall or better. My Moso shoots are about 6 inches tall already and growing fast. The giants are just starting to break through and I’m excited to see what’s going to come up this year it’s going be outrageous. This year Gabelmans Gardens will be adding many new species to our list of available bamboos. Many of the bamboos will be sizing up and be much larger than last years canes. And in 3 short months Gabelmans Gardens will take on a whole new look. Plus I hired some help and we are going to get this place looking great with working waterfalls and blooming water lilies with lots of koi to enjoy and many more improvements are coming.  Give us a call(859)635-0922 or stop by Gabelmans Gardens and see what we can do for you. Check out my other blogs as  well http://hardybamboo.org/  and http://makemoneygardening.org/ and also http://mybamboogrove.com/
